Jennifer McDonald

Jennifer Enid McDonald (born July 18, 1949 in Whangarei) is a retired field hockey player from New Zealand, who was a member of the national team that finished sixth at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.

McDonald made her international debut in 1971 and played 192 matches for New Zealand, including 94 tests. For the first eight years of her fifteen year international career, she played at centre-forward and was a prolific goal-scorer, with more than 200 goals in internationals. She was named captain for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow from which hockey withdrew, but by the time of the next Games, in Los Angeles, she was still captain of The Black Sticks. In 1980, McDonald’s was the only New Zealander chosen in a World Team to play hockey's powerhouse The Netherlands.

In 1996 she was inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame.
